Mexico, the Heartland, and NAFTA
Hear from Kenneth Smith Ramos, an expert on U.S.-Mexico trade and the current head of the Trade and NAFTA Office of the Ministry of the Economy of Mexico based in Washington D.C. Smith’s office is in charge of promoting the trade relationship between Mexico and the United States and ensuring proper implementation of the NAFTA. It also engages with relevant stakeholders from the academic, private, and public sectors on the key trade issues.
Smith previously worked as director-general for international trade negotiations at the Ministry of Economy, and he started his career working for Mexico’s NAFTA negotiating team. He holds a degree in international affairs from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in international economics from Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies.
Kansas Secretary of Commerce Antonio Soave will deliver brief introductory remarks.
The discussion will be followed by a reception in the Anderson Family Atrium.
